In February, 2002 Dr. Gary Claybaugh and Dr Edward Rozycki presented a program on cheating and academic honesty to two groups of our faculty. The program was about three hours in length. While the program was packed with information the atmosphere of the presentation was highly interactive and collegial. The presenters' personal classroom experience at the graduate level added to their credibility.

Early in the program the web sites of some of the most notorious "cheating" enterprises were visited. This was an eye-opening way in which to begin the session and it was followed by a review of more conventional though highly inventive cheating techniques.

The Internet has so changed the academic landscape and blurred concepts of honesty and originality, Our teachers felt that the information on plagiarism was most useful. Not only do they feel better able to recognize and thwart plagiarism; they also feel better able to teach their students the nuances of academic originality, paraphrasing and citation. An excellent workbook written by the presenters offers teachers lessons and exercises for their classes.

In all this was a program of exceptional quality and I would commend it to any high school faculty interested in furthering its understanding of these issues.
